Amenorrhea

Chinese Medicine is useful in treating various causes of amenorrhea, or lack of a menstrual cycle, in helping to promote ovulation and stabilize the menses. Whether amenorrhea is caused by a hormonal imbalance, is exercise or stress induced, or due to PCOS, we approach each individualized case, using acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary or lifestyle changes to correct the imbalance and regulate the menstrual cycle.

Painful Periods

Cramping and pain during menstruation is not unusual. The intensity is different from one woman to the next by varying degrees. A healthy menstrual cycle should be pain free. Acupuncture and herbal medicine help to balance the menstrual cycle and alleviate painful periods.

PMS

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) has a range of physical and emotional effects. Pain, fatigue, bloating, irritability, sadness, food cravings, just to name a few. Chinese medicine is ideal for treating PMS. It promotes subtle adjustments to the body which allows it to become more healthy and balanced.

Menopause

Acupuncture and herbal medicine are very effective in treating many of the symptoms that arise during menopause including hot flashes, irritability, insomnia, weight gain, and night sweats. Effective in balancing hormones, Chinese medicine can help ease this transition.

Irregular Menstruation

A normal menstrual cycle should occur within 28 days, give or a take a couple of days. Many women experience  lengthy cycles, or ones that are shortened, and some that are just all over the map. Acupuncture and herbs can help stabilize ovulation and the menses to promote a regular cycle.

Fibrocystic Breasts

Many women of childbearing age develop non-cancerous lumps in their breast tissue that are responsive to the fluctuating hormones of the menstrual cycle and can sometimes cause pain and swelling, especially in the days preceding the menses. We associate this symptom with stagnation in Chinese medicine and treat it with acupuncture and Chinese herbs to improve the circulation of qi and blood.
