Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy used in many modern acupuncture clinics in order to heal specific areas of pain in the body or to treat specific health conditions. Heat is created by burning moxa, derived from mugwort leaves (artemisia vulgaris), and applying it either directly or indirectly to the skin. Moxabustion will induce a gradual localized vasodilatation response which increases blood circulation which is necessary for healing. It also creates an aroma similar to that of burning sage which patients find enjoyable and comforting.

  • Thread Moxa: Moxa is made into tiny threads and burnt on specific acupuncture points
