New Cupping Set At The Office!

Just wanted to let all you fans of cupping therapy out there know that I have something new and fun at the office... and no those aren't jellyfish.

I have a new set of silicone cups to treat you with! If you've come and had cupping done at my office before, you probably had glass cups placed on an area or slid across a specific region of your body. I'm still a huge fan of the glass cups which I've favored for years and years, particularly for stationary cupping, but these new silicone cups are the jam when it comes to sliding cup therapy. They offer the flexibility to glide over tendon and bone without being painful or popping right off. I've been using them quite a bit lately around some of my patients' shoulder blades to help relieve tension and it's working like a dream.

If you are unfamiliar with cupping therapy, check out this past blog post to learn more.

Conditions Treated With Cupping

In addition to muscle pain, tension, and spasm, cupping therapy treats the following conditions:

  • Cold & Flu
  • Asthma
  • Bronchitis
  • Skin Conditions
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Joint Pain
  • Autoimmune Disorders
  • Migraines
  • Stress & Anxiety

Side Effects

While cupping is a safe and natural form of treatment, after a session you may experience some of the following:

  • Bruising: Cupping usually leaves a pink, red, or purple mark that typically lasts for 3 to 7 days. If you don't want these marks to show for any particular reason, like in your wedding pictures, hold off and have cupping done another time.
  • Tenderness: The area in which you've had cupping done may leave you a little sore and tender upon touch that day and  possibly the day after.
  • Coughing: You might see more cough and mucus production right after a treatment if you have had cupping done when you have been sick with a cold or flu. This is actually a positive result of breaking up that phlegm in your lungs, so don't worry.

Nothing beats the combination of acupuncture and cupping together in a treatment, but if you are not so keen on the needle part or just want to come in for a quick session sans the whole acupuncture experience, I'm now offering 30 minute cupping sessions at my office. So book online or contact me directly to schedule an appointment! Can't wait to see ya!
